Families Please Take Note
Haifa Hevra Kadisha's services are completely free of charge.
These services include ordering a funeral, transporting the deceased from the location of death in Hevra Kadisha's jurisdiction (as defined by law) to the cemetery, preparing the deceased for burial, burying the deceased, and conducting the burial ceremony, in addition to the services listed below.
The public should be careful to make no payment to any party whatsoever, even if he portrays himself as an employee of Hevra Kadisha, on the premises of the cemetery, unless instructed otherwise by the registrar.
Sale of Plots to Living Persons
Everyone is entitled to enter Hevra Kadisha's offices or the cemeteries and buy a burial plot for himself and his relatives for whatever form of burial he chooses: a field plot, family-couple burial plot, or a Sanhedrin (multi-tier) burial plot on the basis of available plots. The prices can be viewed on Hevra Kadisha's website and/or as listed with the staff in Hevra Kadisha's offices.
Transportation Services for the Deceased
Haifa Hevra Kadisha transports deceased persons from the hospitals, senior citizens' homes, and private homes free of charge using its vehicles.

Work hours during the summer are:
Sunday-Thursday 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Friday and days before religious festivals: 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM
Work hours during the winter are:
Sunday-Thursday 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Friday and days before religious festivals: 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM
Refrigerated Storage Services for the Deceased
Haifa Hevra Kadisha provides refrigerated storage without payment when the funeral is delayed or postponed until the following day. Hevra Kadisha charges for storage beyond 48 hours at a rate set by the National Insurance Institute.
Burial Services provided free of charge
The service includes preparing the deceased for burial, purification for men by male purification staff, purification of women by female purification staff, cotton shrouds, digging the grave, and burial.
Cantoring Services during the Funeral
Haifa Hevra Kadisha sends a cantor to every funeral (he receives a salary), who conducts the funeral, prays, and recites Kaddish, if necessary.
Landscaping and Grave Maintenance Services
When a family wants maintenance of a tombstone, whether through pruning flowers and trees planted near the tombstone or cleaning the tombstone, the service will be provided for payment.
