Mr. Benny Hesse of blessed memory
Haifa Hevra Kadisha's former director was murdered in the performance of his duty.
He served as Hevra Kadisha's director until age 67, when he was tragically murdered on Shevat 12, 5771 (January 17, 2011). Benny was popular and respected among everyone who knew him: gentiles, secular people, religiously observant people, and haredim.
He treated everyone with respect, and never disparaged any group.
Of particular note were his relations with Hevra Kadisha's employees, who gave him their unqualified respect and appreciation.
